Exciting news from The Hidden Kitchen! We’ve just launched our $10 Sandwich and Potato Bar, which has taken off with huge success! Choose from your favorite bread or a massive Hawkes jacket potato, loaded with a selection of freshly made fillings or toppings—all for just $10!

Our $10 Sandwich (and baked potato) Bar is back! Seven days a week, 06:30 until 3pm! Choose from over a half a dozen different breads (or a jacket potato) with your choice of an ever changing array of freshly made fillings from only $10

Reflecting back, The Hidden Kitchen started over nine years ago when a little milk bar around the corner popped up for sale on Gumtree. In my youthful naivety, I ditched my corporate job in the city, waved goodbye to three hours of daily commuting, and returned to my culinary roots. Little did I know that two more venues, six lockdowns, and a couple more kids would come into the mix!

Fast forward to today, and here we are— with two more venues boasting a team of 41 talented staff between them, slightly fewer hairs, and still whipping up sheer deliciousness every day from our little spot in the back streets of nowhere. We take pride in serving home-cooked, honest food, with an emphasis on flavor, local produce, and quality ingredients. A little bit of love is our secret ingredient, and we think you’ll agree it makes all the difference.

This year, we decided to throw our hat (or should we say, pie!) into the ring at the 35th Official Great Aussie Pie Competition (@officialauspiecomp), and guess what? Our first-ever go at a contest (not to mention National...) has scored us not one but TWO shiny medals! GOLD for our Traditional Sausage Roll and BRONZE for our Creamy Chicken, Leek & Corn Pie

Our pies, sausage rolls, pasties, and sweet treats are made in-house, and we’re thrilled to announce that our Lamb & Beef Sausage Rolls just won a Gold Medal at the Official Great Aussie Pie Competition! Not to be outdone, our Creamy Chicken, Leek & Corn Pie also took home a Bronze Medal. You can find these award-winning delights not only at The Hidden Kitchen but also at our sister venues, The Kitchen and St Andrews Kitchen. Plus, we supply our goodies wholesale to Hawkes Farm and The Peninsula Beer Garden, so if you don’t find us out in the sticks on Mathis Avenue, you’ll likely bump into our range somewhere on the Peninsula.

Since taking home a Gold Medal for our Beef & Lamb Sausage Rolls, and a Bronze Medal for our Creamy Chicken Pie at this year's Official Great Aussie Pie Competition, we've seen a serious rush for these goodies—and we couldn’t be happier about it! We’re open seven days a week from 6:30 am for all the early birds chasing their coffee and breakfast cravings, and we stay open until 3:00 pm for those last-minute snacks, late lunches, or caffeine fixes. Our shady, pet-friendly courtyard is perfect for you and your four-legged friends, with limited indoor seating for when the weather turns. We operate on a walk-in basis, but feel free to call us at 03 5985 7702 to check if we can accommodate your group.

Our gluten and dairy-free Peanut Butter Yo-yos have been one of our best-selling biscuits since I first made them many moons ago (will be coming up to ten years soon!)

These delectable treats are perfect for dunking in hot chocolate, but I'd advise not leaving them in your drink for too long, as we can't promise they'll come back out again...
I'd also advise against using them as a yo-yo, despite their name, as we can't promise they'll come back up again...
